Residents of a Tennessee town have taken to various platforms to express outrage after a 38- year- old woman, identified as Melissa Blair, was arrested and indicted for having s*x with no fewer than nine local high school students in exchange for vape pens.
According to a report by WTVC- TV, Blair was arrested on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, and arraigned on 18 counts bordering on statutory r*pe, four counts bordering on human trafficking by prostitution, solicitation of a minor and forfeiture of personal property.
This was confirmed by the McMin County Sheriff, Sheriff Joe Guy, stating that there at least nine confirmed male victims of the incidents which happened from spring 2020 to late 2021 at Mcmin Central High School, Englewood.
According to the parents of the victims, the teacher reached out to the boys, who were between the ages of 14 and 17, and offered them items to entice them, including vape pens in exchange for s*x.
Investigation into the incident started after the school district received an anonymous letter, leading to the arrest of the woman.
However, officials of the school disclosed that Blair is not a teacher or an employee for the district, but was involved in the school booster club, and also had child in the school system that had been transferred.
Following the incident, Blair was banned from the school property and activities in the school.
A mother of one of the victims, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that she is devastated and cannot explain in words what it feels like to be going through what her family is going through now.
The mother also lamented that people focus mainly on the perpetrator and don' t realise how devastating it is to the family, adding that the family is just home and doesn' t know what to do.
The suspect is currently scheduled for arraignment on February 28, 2022, after being released on a $100, 000 bond
