The police operatives of the Asutuare Police Division have apprehended a Ghanaian police officer identified as Corporal Agbovi Tetteh Roland for purportedly assaulting a suspected thief in the custody s€xually without her consent.
It was gatheredededed that the police operatives allegedly r@ped a 17- year- old suspect identified as Azumah Precious who was being detained in the police custody after she was caught stealing from her former lover. The victim was said to have been reported by her ex- boyfriend who was caught stealing his cash and some valuables from his apartment.
According to the report, the victim was said to be vomiting which prompted Corporal Agbovi who happens to be an officer on duty to open the doors of the prison for her to enable her to clean up her mat and inside the prison as she had vomited all over the cell.
According to the victim' s statement, she said, " When I came out of the cell to clean up the mat I was sleeping on as well as to clean inside the cell, the officer began to touch my breast but I resisted his s3xual moves. The more I resist, the more he continue by touching my breast which made me to ran away from the custody but the officer rearrest me and dragged me back to the cell.
" He later allowed me to visit the toilet so I can clean myself up. Immediately I entered the toilet, he followed me and stood in the bathroom until I finished bathing then he forcefully had s3xual int3rcourse with me. He r@ped multiple times inside the toilet. He then threatened to kill me if I tell anyone about what happened between us. "
Based on the report, it was discovered that the police officer opened the prison door for the suspect on Thursday, 20th of January 2022 at about 11: 30 pm to wash herself up. While the victim was bathing, the police officer stood in the bathroom with her until she finished bathing.
The police officer was said to have forcefully had s3xual int3rcourse with her in the bathroom and threatened her not to tell anyone about this if she wants to live.
The police command has given the victim a medical form she would take to the hospital so she would be taken care of while Corporal Tetteh Agbovi Rowland was apprehended and given police enquiry bail.
